More facts have continued to emerge on the alleged #100 million empowerment scandal involving the Market women association of Kwara State, this medium has gathered.

According to findings by this medium, it was gathered from ministry sources that the #100m in question was disbursed by the Ministry of Commerce under the supervision of Mr. Segun Soewu and not handed over to the market women association as erroneously alleged.

Hajia Elefun

It would be recalled Hajia Elefun the Deputy Iyaloja General had few days ago accused the embattled Iyaloja general of embezzling the #100 million empowerment fund.

Speaking with this medium under condition of anonymity, the ministry source said "The money in question was actually a soft loan to market women under the market women association of Kwara State.

"All eligible market women applied for the loan, however not all of them were able to meet the requirements of concrete verifiable payment plan and a guarantee which must be a government worker or a high rank Chief.

"I can assure you, the issue of embezzlement doesn't arise as the money was paid to the successful applicants directly and not through a proxy" the source stressed.

Describing the allegation as a ruse, Hajia Lambe described Hajia Elefun as "over ambitious and a serial liar, stressing that she wants to use the opportunity of the incoming administration of APC to snatch the leadership of the Union from the back door.

" It is funny that she knows the truth about the mode of disbursement of the #100m in question, some of her co-travellers benefited from the loan. The allegation is nothing but an attempt to paint me in bad light and blackmail the incoming administration to look towards their side, since they are acclaimed APC members.

"Our association is apolitical, we don't have allegiance to any political party, what is paramount to us is the welfare of our members and to always protect their interest. We'll work with anybody that protects and promote our interest" she added.

On the allegation that she embezzled #5m meant for the Headquarters of the association, she said "When we received the #5m from the Senate President, I set up a committee to look into the utilisation of the money and it was unanimously agreed that we should utilise it for the construction of our ile egbe.

" All 16 local government structures have at least 1 committee members, the supervised the construction and completion of the ile egbe, I took no dime out of the said money" she fumed.

Meanwhile, the Kwara State marketers association, have described the rumoured embezzlement of #100m levelled against Hajia Lambe, as a continuation of the failed palace coup orchestrated by minority elements in the association.

This much was disclosed in a press release signed by its secretary, Hajia Mulikat Ghazali Yemisi, a copy of which was made available to this medium in Ilorin on Thursday.

The release reads in part "Our attention has been drawn to a news flying around that the  Iyaloja of Kwara State, Alhaja Adenike Lambe was involved in the embezzlement of a certain N100 million that was meant for the marketers.

" The money in question was released by the State government under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmad early last year, as a loan to all marketers in the 16 local governments of the state, which Oja Oba, the market in question was a beneficiary.

"Funnily enough, the marketer from Oja Oba who granted the interview flying around was supposed to be a beneficiary, however, she wasn't able to get a guarantor in order to access the loan, which brings suspicion as to why there was such name calling, we realize that since she lacked character which made her unable to get a guarantor, she felt everyone else would be of questionable character.

" The loan in question was disbursed and enjoyed by all 16 local governments of the state and adequate proof is available for verification" it stressed.
